Days of innovation, networking, and industry insights have come to a close.
Kind + Jugend 2026 ran from 15 to 17 September in Cologne, and if you work anywhere near the baby and toddler world, you already know it’s the week the whole European industry shows up in one place.
With new products on display and a refreshed Motorola Nursery brand presence, we expected interest. What we didn´t expect was the sheer number of visitors stopping by and the quality of the conversations that followed.
The stand was buzzing with visitors, and the conversations were truly insightful.
Over three days, Kind + Jugend once again proved why it remains one of the most important meeting points for the baby and nursery industry. The event brought together brands, retailers and industry professionals from across the market, creating the perfect setting to showcase new developments, exchange ideas and gain fresh perspectives on where the category is heading.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by during the show. Events like these are a valuable reminder that beyond products and displays, it is the people behind the industry who drive it forward. We leave Cologne with new ideas, renewed momentum and plenty to look forward to in the months ahead.
The new products unveiled at the Kind + Jugend trade fair certainly lived up to expectations…
Portable camera with cry detection and translation
The PIP2000-P CONNECT is a portable Wi-Fi baby camera with 2K video but the headline isn’t the resolution. It’s BeyondCry™, the cry detection and translation technology developed by Zoundream and trained on more than 10 million hours of real-world cry audio.
In practice: the camera listens, and the app tells you which of five cry types it recognises: sleepy, hungry, uncomfortable, burp, or irritated. Over time it builds patterns and insights, so you’re not starting from zero at 3am.
The rest of the specification are solid, and quietly practical:
- 2K high-definition wide-angle camera, with 4x digital zoom.
- Portable, with up to 16 hours of battery life.
- Manual pan and tilt (digital pan/tilt in the app once zoomed in).
- Two-way talk and a high-sensitivity microphone.
- Automatic infrared night visión.
- Room temperature and humidity monitoring.
- Lullabies, nature sounds and audio books.
- SD card video storage, plus cloud recording through the app.
- Wall and crib mount options included.
- Independently certified data security.
A note we’d rather make plainly than hide in a footnote: cry translation and insights come from Zoundream, with the first month free after activation and a monthly subscription after that. The app also handles cloud storage plans.
Touchless forehead thermometer
The Motorola TE-95 is medically certified and reads without contact, you hold it less than 5 cm from the centre of the forehead, press the button, and the temperature appears in about a second, with a beep to confirm.
The part everyone liked is the colour-coded backlight. In forehead mode the screen changes colour for three seconds so you get the answer before you’ve even read the number:
- Green: normal, below 37.3 °C
- Yellow: elevated, below 37.8 °C
- Red: high, above 37.8 °C
It also stores the 30 most recent readings, timestamps each one with a real-time clock, switches between Celsius and Fahrenheit, and has a separate object mode for surface temperature readings.
No app, no account, no setup. For a sick child at two in the morning, that’s a feature.
